Avery Dennison, in partnership with Save the Children, is supporting a USAID project that will provide Thai youth with greater livelihood opportunities and employability.

Today, young people are facing increased job insecurity and an unemployment crisis exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic. For unemployed youth who lack adequate education or training, gaining employment is a challenge in Thailand. This is especially true for young women who experience higher unemployment rates than young men. Equipping young people with the skills and opportunities necessary to succeed in the labor market will increase their employability and ability to survive.

Through the USAID Achieve project, Save the Children (Thailand) Foundation has partnered with Avery Dennison, a U.S.-based global manufacturer of labeling and functional materials, to improve the employability of youth in the three southern provinces of Thailand. This partnership builds on the USAID Achieve project, which provides youth who lack adequate education and training with access to economic opportunities through mentorship, job fairs, and training programs. These targeted activities will promote equitable youth employability in all three of Thailand’s Deep South provinces. The partnership with Avery Dennison will provide additional support for marginalized young women and provide seed funding for those with the best business ideas.

“Save the Children (Thailand) Foundation is delighted to unveil the collaboration between USAID and Avery Dennison. I’d like to extend my thanks to both parties for taking part in the program to help equip vulnerable youth with life skills and professional skills and provide pathways to break the cycle of poverty”. (Prasert Tepanart, Country Director) from Save the Children (Thailand) Foundation

USAID Regional Development Mission for Asia’s Acting Mission Director Juniper Neill affirmed the Agency’s support, saying, “By partnering with the private sector, we want to identify solutions that allow youth to reach their full potential to contribute to Thailand's future. This partnership aims to ensure better lives for young people by providing access to services through mentorship, training, education and job fairs. All of these efforts are building towards a resilient, inclusive, secure Thailand and Southeast Asia.”

“Avery Dennison is committed to advancing education and women’s empowerment through our global foundation," says Poovadon Vongsangsub, Plant manager, Avery Dennison (Thailand) Ltd. "We are excited to see real change in this community by providing our youth with education and training that will equip them with the right skills to obtain opportunities needed to support themselves and their families."
